There are some who only claim to serve God for what they can get out of it. For some, this is salvation from hell, for others, they want the material blessing of the Lord in their lives. Both have missed the point of godliness is in being like God, not in what you can get out of it.
Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain. (1 Timothy 6:5-6)
