There was a saying when I was a kid, that has been around for centuries, that went, “Find A Penny, Pick It Up, And All Day You Will Have Good Luck!” It was likely rooted in a poverty mentality, besides the obvious superstition of it, but there may have been an important truth missed in it.
Some versions of the saying were:
“See a pin and pick it up, all the day you’ll have good luck;
See a pin and let it lie, bad luck you’ll have all day!”
He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. (Luke 16:10)
