I get this question posed in a variety of ways, but the idea is that the questioner thinks that material prosperity is only for the Old Testament and now we are only concerned with spiritual riches (whatever vague thing that means). The New Testament is very plain that Christians should be rich, and it is one of the things that Jesus came to give us!
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9)
