Many do not understand that negative affirmations like, “I am not sick,” or, “I am debt free,” attract more of the unwanted thing into their lives. This is not because the subconscious mind is too stupid to know the difference between something positive or negative, and does not hear the “not” in the “I am not sick” affirmation, rather it is because such an affirmation is focusing on the negative thing that is unwanted. To have this be a beneficial affirmation, it would be better to say, “I am the healed and whole of the Lord.” Thus, the focus is removed from the sickness, and all the focus is on being healed and whole. It is what you focus on, positive or negative, that become the issues of your life (Proverbs 4:23).
