“Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
While this saying is true as it is, I would prefer to reword it to better reflect the idea of one’s character, lest one blame their mind for their lack of character. I would say it like this:
“Great people discuss ideas; average people discuss events, news, and politics; below average people discuss other people.”
