God Is All Good – Understanding His Omnibenevolence

0

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. (Luke 2:10-14)

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

Seven times in Genesis 1 it says that God saw that His creation was “good.” The seventh time it says “very good.”

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. (Genesis 1:31a)

And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. (Mark 10:17-18)

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. (James 1:17)

O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. (Psalms 34:8)

For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. (Psalms 100:5)

1 Chronicles 16:34; Psalms 106:1; 107:1; 118:1 and 29; and 136:1 say “O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. (1 Chronicles 16:34)

Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. (Psalms 106:1)

O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. (Psalms 107:1)

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever. (Psalms 118:1)

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. (Pslams 118:29)

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. (Psalms 136:1)

The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. (Nahum 1:7)

That God is good is stressed in 2 Chronicles 5:13, 7:3, Ezra 3:11, Jeremiah 33:11, and numerous other passages of Scripture.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8)

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13)

For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. (Acts 17:28)
